Terrible experience. Seated ourselves as instructed and then no waitress ever came to our table. We finally left when we noticed a waitress was sitting at another table talking to the customers. Won't be making the trip from York again.
MoreHinkle’s really stinkles! I can believe this restaurant was rated with 4 1/2 stars—my only guess is that the scale was out of 100! The service was extremely slow and the food was plain awful! The kids pizza is a pita crust uncooked with sauce and melted cheese in microwave. Not sure it saw an oven. The butter noodles should have been called noodled butter. It was a pound of melted butter with 8 noodles swimming in it. So gross! Definitely NOT a place to go for Lancaster cuisine :(
MoreStill the same Good food but lacking in atmosphere that there's no cool shopping or great gifts as before.
MoreThank you to whoever is responsible for the renovations and expansion. Very pleasant breakfast experience due to the friendliness of the staff. Can't wait for the sofa fountain to open!
MoreA slice of Americana in a cute Pennsylvania town with great historic architecture. Larger (and expanding/renovating) restaurant with a small restaurant feel to it. Not fancy, but you'll get what you ordered with a smile at this longstanding popular local place.
MoreHinkle's takes you back to a time when great food and exceptional service was the norm not the exception. Friendly servers as well as customers! It's like eating at home, but youdon't have to do the dishes!
MoreKind of a retro dinner. Anyone who remembers the counter at Woolworth will see what I mean. Long menu. Reasonable prices. Good food and decent sized portions. Undergoing major construction as they closed the pharmacy. Kind of a cool place in it's 1950's design.
MoreGood food. Quality is always on the menu here. Tom is great. The people are great. Thank you for keeping this gem.
MoreLove the food especially the fried chicken and hot bacon dressing.
Nice renovation. Good food!
The best beef tips I've ever had.
Staff is amazing and sweet as could be!! The food is delicious and sooooooo filling and the prices are great!!! Love it! 10/10 would eat here forever.
MoreWelcoming environment with a kind server, but none of the menu items we ordered hold up by today’s standards. It’s unfortunate because I wanted to post a better review. Menu looked promising, but I think there are just too many options. Cut it down and do just a few things really really well, and you’ve got yourself a great restaurant considering the old school vibe and good waitstaff already in place.
MoreWe ordered about 20 breakfast takeouts for our company Christmas event and the food was ready on time and packaged amazingly. The food was great too! Great customer service
MoreIt's shaped kinda werid when you go in but don't let that fool you. The food is delicious. Also there's a deal for two eggs, home fries and toast for 2.59 before 9am that you cannot beat!
MoreTypical diner food with an old school atmosphere. Friendly service. Good prices. Hands down the best Old Bay wings I've ever had.
MoreI've been there 3 times and this time was the worst. Food has been good every time but the service is horrible. The wait staff doesn't communicate with each other and even worse when it comes to the customers.
MoreWe went for dinner on a Saturday night. They had plenty of seating for our party of 8. They have a big menu similar to a diner with many different options. The atmosphere was really cool and felt like a throwback, the floor to ceiling windows really make the space feel huge. The have a nice appointed gift shop with cute gifts and many candy options. They also had an ice cream and milkshake bar. I saw a menu for some homemade old fashioned soda fountain. If you are close to the area drop in for a nice meal!
MoreWe came in to town a few years back to go to the Watch Museum. We then asked an employee there, if there was a local place he could recommend to eat at. He said Hinkles. My father was a pharmacist, so I thought it was cool they still had an older pharmacy and diner together. To my surprise, the food was great. They have the best breaded Buffalo chicken wrap in my opinion. Long story short, everytime I pass by Columbia, I always order the Buffalo chicken wrap. Eventually Hinkles totally updated the restaurant and it looks very nice. Attached to a nice gift store too. Definitely worth a visit.
MoreStop here whenever we are traveling thru Columbia. Great PA Dutch food at a good price.
MoreBeen coming here, for as long as I can remember, to get their Chicken & Waffles. Hinkle’s is an American treasure! Thanks for the wonderful memories and all the great food, over the years...
MoreWe come here every week on our day off for breakfast. ..always good
The renovations are great and the food was quite good. The service was good but a bit slow. Overall, a good experience.
MoreThis place is awesome, I go here almost every morning for breakfast
Old and dingy. In process of remodeling, hope it looks better. Food not the greatest.
MoreThe food was delicious and the service was great. I recommend the wings!!!
Nice Pentions Federal Social Securities All Social Media Apps one Network
Fun place to eat and meet. Hoping they get bigger booths.
It says that they are open and doing take out with the covid 19 but every time I call it just rings and rings. Not very professional especially when their voice automated says that they are doing takeout.
MoreMy personal experience was ok dont want to bash a place I heard so many great things about again my experience was ok at best I would give it another chance once construction over. general layout of place is very confusing
MoreBreakfast was very good.
Best place for a old fashion home style meal. Highly recommend!!!!!
Decent pancakes that took a while to be served. Friendly servers.
This place is great. It has a restaurant inside a Pharmacy! It's a wonderful place for the way older generation if ya know what I'm sa💖ying. They sell everything here. Jewelry, pocketbooks, cards, souvenirs and trinkets. Their prices are steep for some of these things, but, it's worth it. Like the pocketbooks, they are real leather, or swade. So your getting your moneys worth. Come and see, have some breakfast and ENJOY!!!!
MoreWhat a transformation! Same classic food that Hinkle's had been serving for years, but the decor has been entirely updated with a classical modern look. The ice cream shop is awesome!
MoreOne of the best places to get good food. And a pharmacy that treats all with the up most respect. Sad to say they are shutting down do to other pharmacys. We are losing a gem unlike any other thanks to dirty politics making it harder on small business to survive. Columbia won't be the same without this place get there while you can. And enjoy everyone is so friendly. Sit around and listen to the old vets talk about the good old days and learn something. Hinkles will be missed.
MoreThe food is very good and the prices are reasonable.
Five stars to food, service, cleaness! Especially to the Bee lotion in the ladies room. Looooved it. Okay now the food. Its delicious! I had the battered cauliflower, red pickled beets and sweet potatoe patties. Yuuuuummmy!!!! My daughter says 5 stars to fancy bathroom.🙃Tony mentioned a veggie burger while on our way out. I will be back next summer to try it.🙏🏼Thanks Bob, a local I meet at the laundry mat 3 minutes away. Peace, love, and happiness!
MoreHinkle's is a cute family friendly restaurant. They have lots of booths for comfortable seating and the staff is friendly. There is also a cute gift shop attached which is accessible from the restaurant itself. The food here is fairly good, I would compare it to diner food. The atmosphere is good and reminds me of a country diner, although they are currently in the process of doing renovations so that may change. I do wish that they were open a little later though. Aside from that this is a good restaurant that I recommend trying.
MoreA throw back in time to pharmacy lunch counters but not in a retro way. Food is cozy and familiar. Staff is welcoming to new and long time customers. Every visit to Columbia is not complete with out a stop at Hinkle's.
MoreThe food here can be pricey, but it does taste great. Once the waitresses know you, they will serve your usual beverage and tell you that they remember what you like. I love their chicken fingers, grilled cheese and Tapioca pudding.
MoreWhenever visiting family in Columbia, we try to make time for a Hinkles breakfast. Sidle up to the counter for some traditional morning menu offerings at a more than reasonable price, and keep that coffee coming! Always great service and excellent food- and friendly folks!
MoreI stop in at Hinkle's for breakfast or lunch whenever I am on a antique-hunting trip to Columbia, Pennsylvania. The home-style food is very good, the prices are very reasonable and the service is friendly. If you can't find street parking, there is a lot in back of the restaurant. Hinkle's is a great alternative to the chain restaurants. I especially recommend the restaurant if you are a visitor to the town.
MoreWednesday is chicken and waffles. Great meal w/FF and the best coleslaw you will ever eat.
MoreGreat place!
Great food, very reasonable prices. Enjoy the hometown atmosphere. Pharmacy personnel very friendly, helpful.
MoreThey have and extensive menu and daily all you can eat specials. Love the old timey lunch counter and apothecary vibe. And off street parking. Is this the best kept secret in Colombia?
MorePotato soup is the best.
This is a ver nice little restaurant with good food for a really good price.
